About your appointment
- You will be seen by a Consultant Psychiatrist or Occupational Physician who specialises in occupational assessments.
- Appointments generally run between 60-90 minutes, occasionally longer.
- The specific purpose of the assessment varies depending on your circumstance; however we always aim to understand how your health impacts on your ability to work and the impact of work on your wellbeing. Determining what work can do to assist you in your rehabilitation is an important part of your assessment.
- Other important information in your assessment may include:
- The history of your health difficulties
- Your work history
- Past and current treatment
- Current symptoms
- Relevant personal or social history to gain a better understanding of your unique circumstances
- Daily activities and Interests
- We recognise that independent examinations can be a stressful experience. At Work Life Well we endeavour to make you feel at ease and provide a sufficient appointment time so that you don’t feel rushed.
If you feel unable to attend alone, a relative or a friend may accompany you to the appointment as your “support person”. The examiner, however, will be focusing their assessment predominately on you. Please keep in mind that your examiner may ask your support person to leave the interview for at least some part of the assessment, in order to maintain your privacy when discussing sensitive issues.
